This is the first post of Style Steps where I’ll demonstrate how to achieve a certain look or style a specific item. Now that fall is in full swing, I’m trading my flip flops for boots and pulling out my winter coat and wool socks. To keep myself from wearing my fall uniform everyday (sweater, jeans, boots) I use some of my summer items to add variety to my looks. The one thing to remember when dressing for colder weather is to layer, layer, layer. You’ll stay warm and get more mileage out of your entire wardrobe.
Just because there’s a chill outside doesn’t mean your denim cutoffs or high waisted shorts can’t be worn. Wear them with tights, boots, and a chunky sweater and you’re shorts will be ready for fall. Wear fleece-lined tights to stay toasty when you’re braving the elements.
Throw on a sweater or cardigan over a summer dress and wiggle into some tights and you’re off. This is one of the easiest ways to wear sundresses in the fall and winter months. Remember to think about proportions when you choose a dress to wear. If it’s loose on the bottom, keep the top fitted. If the bottom is fitted, keep the top loose.
