I’ve been so excited to see the collection since a look book wasn’t released. The collection was originally going to come out on January 5th but then the date was changed to the 7th to coincide with the return of the show on ABC Family.

Mandi Line, the PLL costume designer, designed a 13 piece collection for Aeropostale in the style of each of the liars. The clothes cost $18-$72. There’s a discount on the collection.

When I first looked at the collection this morning I was disappointed.

I wouldn’t spend $72 on a blue leather jacket.

All of the items I felt I could buy elsewhere, at a better price, and better quality. I like the pieces in the collection for the most part but it’s smaller than I thought it would be and it’s over priced.

Would you pay $18 for a graphic tee?

Emily

Emily’s wool vest jacket ($72) and t-shirt ($18) are the two pieces in the collection. The rest the Emily model is wearing is from Aeropostale and not part of the collection.

Aria

Four pieces in the collection are in Aria’s style; $18 crop top, $32 skirt, $72 jacket, and $42 polka dot combat boots. I’ve seen similar skirts in lots of other stores at a better price.

Hanna

There are only 2 Hanna pieces. A dress, $32, and cropped blazer, $54. I see Hanna Marin when I look at these pieces but again, I feel like I could find similar items at a better price in another store.  I though Aeropostale was going to step up their game on the design of the pieces.

I love the individual styles of each character on the show and the unique pieces they wear. This collection let me down. What do you think of the collection? Is it just me who’s disappointed?

Spencer

Spencer’s signature blazer, $42, made an appearance in the collection as well as a plaid shirt, skirt, and combat boots.

Mandi Line included an A sweatshirt for $36.

If you buy something from the PLL Collection, you get a free t-shirt. Perfect to wear while watching the show every week.

The style of each character is clear in the collection but I think they’re not special enough. Any of these items someone could find in another store. I don’t think I’ll be buying anything in the collection unless it goes on clearance.

My favorite items in the collection are the brown combat boots, the black Aria skirt, and the graphic t-shirt. I’m bummed that Mandi Line didn’t include accessories in the collection because the girls have great jewelry and bags.

Mandi posted on her Instagram today that there would be future collections. I hope those ones are much better than this one and include accessories.

“Bigger and bolder,” is a good sign. Fingers crossed future collections are better.

The website’s another story. Click on the free t-shirt picture on aeropostale.com to see the collection on one page. Believe it or not, it took me a few minutes to figure out how to do that.

Tell me, what did you think of the collection? Are you planning on buying anything?
